Bronwyn, like all gardeners I know, is extremely generous. Last summer she provided all the basil and mint I could possibly use. The first time we talked gardening, I remember hearing her mention that the garden was on the roof. On a recent visit, she and her daughters Sophie and Amelia, showed me their rooftop garden in full bloom – carrots, cucumbers, tomatoes, watermelon, garlic, rosemary, basil and mint. I asked Amelia what is her favorite thing about their rooftop garden. Without hesitation, she proudly exclaimed, “The watermelon plant!”
About the gardener: Bronwyn is mom to Sophie and Amelia. She is an art conservator for the Illinois State Museum. She spends all other free moments either volunteering at the girls school and the Springfield Art Association. She is currently board president at Springfield Art Association. She and her husband Bill, enjoy produce and herbs from their rooftop garden in Springfield, IL.
